About Dr. Gum

My goal in therapy is to guide people through a process of meaningful, lasting change that brings them to feel more capable and alive. I am committed to lifelong learning to cultivate my skills. Here are some of the things that influence my work:

Background & Interests

After studying and performing as a dancer, I trained in and practiced
dance/movement therapy and yoga.  These interests eventually inspired me to learn more, so I completed a doctorate and became a licensed psychologist (PSY 22467).

One focus of my doctoral work was the impact of early stressful experiences upon emotional wellbeing throughout life, in the context of traditional psychodynamic theories and their relevance to current neuroscientific research.

Among the therapeutic approaches I use today with clients are
Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, EMDR, Internal Family Systems, and the Comprehensive Resource Model
